Ingredients

Slow-cooked char siu pork ribs
  • 2.5 kilogram american-style pork spare ribs
  • 2 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) char siu sauce
  • 2 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) orange juice
  • 5 centimetre piece fresh ginger (25g), grated
  • 2 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 fresh long red chilli, chopped finely
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil

Method

    Cut rib racks into pieces to fit 4.5-litre (18-cup) slow cooker. Heat peanut oil in large frying pan; cook ribs, in batches, until browned all over.

    Meanwhile, combine sauces, juice, ginger, garlic, chilli and sesame oil in jug; brush all over ribs. Place ribs in cooker; pour over remaining sauce. Cook, covered, on low, 7 hours.

    Remove ribs from sauce; cover to keep warm. Place sauce in medium saucepan; bring to the boil. Boil, uncovered, 5 minutes or until sauce is thickened slightly.

    Serve ribs drizzled with sauce.

Notes

Ask the butcher to cut the rib racks into pieces that will fit your slow cooker.
