These gorgeous miniature berry and rhubarb pies are perfect for a morning or afternoon treat, or a decadent dessert with vanilla ice-cream.

There is a place for store bought pastry and custard, but sometimes a sweet dish just deserves the homemade versions. This is one of those dishes.

Give your regular berry jam a distinctive lift with the addition of rhubarb. For best results use only the reddest parts of the rhubarb stems. The jam will be ready when a teaspoon-full sets or 'jells' when placed on a cold plate.
