Ingredients

Chipolatas with homemade barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1/3 cup (80 millilitres) worcestershire sauce
  • 400 gram can crushed tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 kilogram chipolata sausages

Method

    Heat oil in pan, cook onion and garlic, until soft. Add ginger, paste, mustard, sugar, vinegar, sauce and tomatoes; simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes, until thick. Blend sauce until smooth.

    Barbecue the chipolatas until cooked. Serve with sauce.

Notes

Sauce can be made a week ahead; refrigerate.
