-
1Preheat oven to 180°C/355°F. Line muffin pan with patty cases.
-
2Make cake according to directions on packet. Drop ¼-cup mixture into each case; bake about 20 minutes. Stand cakes in pan for 5 minutes before turning, top-side up, onto a wire rack to cool.
-
3Next make butter cream. Beat butter until white as possible, gradually beat in half the sifted icing sugar then milk, then remaining icing sugar. Beat until smoot
-
4Divide butter cream among three small bowls; tint orange, blue and green.
-
5Butterfly beauty: spread blue butter cream over four cupcakes. Position strawberry milk bottles for the body. Halve 4 freckles; position two round freckles and two halved freckles for wings. Cut eight small strips from jelly babies; position for antennae. Dot eyes on butterfly using black decorating gel.
-
6Dragonfly: spread green butter cream over four cupcakes. Position smarties for body; cut milk bottles in half lengthways, position for wings. Using black decorating gel, dot pupils on smarties.
-
7Buzzy bee: spread orange butter cream over four cupcakes. Cut a thin strip from both long sides of jelly babies and milk bottles; reserve trimmings. Join the cut sides of four milk bottles alternately with three pieces of jelly babies. Cut into an oval shape to make bee's body.
-
8Repeat to make four bees. Thinly slice the reserved milk bottle trimmings to make antennae; position on cakes. Cut reserved jelly baby trimmings into small triangles; position on bee to make stinger. Position smarties on cakes to make wings. Using black decorating gel, dot eyes on bee.
-
9Serve on prepared covered cake-board.
