Family favourite burgers
December seems to be a time when the pace of life speeds up. At times like this it is good to have some favourite recipes that are quick to prepare and can be reheated to serve those who get home later. It's not all about main meals either - a couple of standby desserts may be just what everyone needs!

Family favourite burgers
- 1 onion, chopped in half
- 1 carrot, halved
- 2 courgettes, ends removed
- 2 clove garlic
- 800 gram beef mince
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon tomato sauce
- salt
- oil
- 100 gram colby cheese, sliced
- 8 burger buns

1Salad ingredients such as lettuce leaves, grated carrot or sliced tomato

2Preheat oven to 180C. Place onion, carrot, courgettes and garlic in the food processor and pulse until very finely chopped.

3Transfer veges to a large bow along with mince, breadcrumbs, eggs, tomato sauce and salt to taste. Using your hands, mix until ingredients are well combined.

4Form mixture into eight patties approximately 10cm in diameter.

5Heat oil in a frying pan and cook patties in batches until well browned on each side. Transfer to a baking dish and cover with slices of cheese. Place in oven until cheese is melted and patties are cooked through.
