Ingredients

Indian- style mince
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon finely grated ginger
  • 2 fresh green chillies, seeded, chopped
  • 500 gram beef mince
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon chopped coriander
  • steamed rice, lemon wedges, to serve

Method

    Heat oil in a large frying pan on medium.

    Add onion and cook for 3 minutes, stirring, until soft and golden. Add garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for 2 minutes, until fragrant. Add mince and cook for 5 minutes, breaking up lumps with a spoon, until no longer pink.

    Stir in turmeric and 1/3 cup hot water.

    Reduce heat to low. Cover, cook for 5 minutes. Stir through garam masala, lemon juice and coriander. Serve with rice and lemon wedges.

Notes

This dish, which is used as a filling for popular samosas, is known as keema in Indian cuisine. The word simply means minced meat.
