Lamb pide

A traditional Turkish dish that is great for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Lamb pide
  • 2 brown onions (160g), chopped finely
  • 2 clove garlic, crushed
  • 250 gram lamb mince
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 turkish breads
  • 1/4 cup (25g) finely grated low-fat mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoon chopped fresh mint

    Preheat oven to 220°C/200°C fan forced.

    Cook onion and garlic in oiled medium saucepan, stirring, until onion softens. Add mince, paste, paprika and cumin; cook, stirring, until mince is cooked through.

    Split breads; place bases on oven tray. Spread with mince mixture; sprinkle with cheese and mint. Replace tops; bake pide about 10 minutes or until bread is crisp. Cut each pide in half to serve.
