Ingredients
Nutty fudge slice
- 140 gram butter
- 2 tablespoon golden syrup
- 395 gram can condensed milk
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 packet plain biscuits, roughly crushed
- 1 cup chopped nuts, such as pistachios, pecans, walnuts or almonds
- 100 gram milk chocolate, chopped
Method
-
1In a large saucepan, combine butter, golden syrup, condensed milk and sugar. Heat slowly until butter has melted.
-
2Increase heat and simmer, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes until thickened and golden.
-
3Remove from the heat and stir in the crushed biscuits and three-quarters of the nuts. Add three-quarters of the chopped chocolate.
-
4Pour mixture into a lined 27cm by 18cm slice tin and smooth the top. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts and chocolate, and press in lightly.
-
5Cool for 20 minutes, then chill overnight or until firm. Cut into small rectangles to serve.
Notes
This is a brilliant one-pot mix and the results are scrumptious! The nutty caramel flavours work well with coffee, or you can wrap them individually to give away to guests as they leave. This is a very versatile recipe. You can add different chocolate – dark or white – and swap out half the nuts for dried fruit. It keeps longer and has a more fudgy texture when stored in the fridge.
