Ingredients
Caramel and chocolate slice
- 1/2 cup (75g) plain flour
- 1/2 cup (75g) self-raising flour
- 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
- 3/4 cup (165g) firmly packed brown sugar
- 150 gram butter, melted
- 125 gram dark eating chocolate, chopped coarsely
- 1/2 cup (55g) walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 cup (35g) plain flour, extra
- 1/2 cup (125ml) caramel topping
Method

1Preheat oven to moderate 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Grease 19cm x 29cm rectangular slice pan, line base and two long sides with baking paper, extending paper 2cm above edges.

2Combine flours, oats and sugar in medium bowl, stir in butter. Press half the mixture into pan. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven, sprinkle with chocolate and walnuts.

3Blend extra flour with caramel topping in small bowl. Drizzle evenly over chocolate and walnuts, then sprinkle with remaining oat mixture.

4Bake further 15 minutes. Cool in pan, cut into squares before serving.
Notes
We used a thick, caramel-flavoured ice-cream topping in this recipe.
