Chocolate caramel slice with crumbly topping
Smooth, sweet caramel and rich chocolate go brilliantly together in this gorgeous slice recipe. Enjoy a piece (or two!) with a hot cup of tea for morning or afternoon tea

Ingredients
- 150 gram butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Caramel
- 395 gram tin condensed milk
- 2 tablespoon golden syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 75 gram butter
Method

1预热烤箱至180˚C。行一个20厘米x 20厘米with baking paper.

2Cream the butter and sugar with an electric beater until the mixture is light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla essence. Sift in the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Mix together until combined.

3Press two-thirds of the mixture into the base of the prepared pan.

4Place the condensed milk, golden syrup, brown sugar and butter into a saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until it is well combined and starting to thicken. Pour the caramel over the base.

5Sprinkle the remaining mixture over the caramel. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Cool in the tin before cutting into pieces.
Notes
- This very moreish slice is best kept in the refrigerator.
