Ingredients
Mediterranean pizzas (lahmajoun)
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 500 gram beef mince
- 2 tablespoon tomato paste
- 400 gram can diced tomatoes
- 1/3 cup toasted pine nuts
- 1/2 cup mint, chopped, plus extra leaves, to serve
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- plain flour, for dusting
- 4 ready-made pizza bases
- greek yoghurt, to serve
Method
Mediterranean pizzas (lahmajoun)

1Heat oil in a large frying pan on medium. Saute onion 4-5 minutes.

2Increase heat to high. Add mince and cook 6-8 minutes, until well browned, breaking up lumps as it cooks. Stir in tomato paste, then add tomatoes. Simmer 4-5 minutes, until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in pine nuts, mint, vinegar, honey and spices.

3Preheat oven to hot, 200°C. Lightly dust four large oven trays with flour.

4Place one pizza base on each tray. Spread evenly with beef mixture. Bake 10-15 minutes, until dough is crisp and golden. Serve with a dollop of yoghurt and mint leaves.
