Ingredients
Penne della nonna
- 500 gram penne
- 1 cup (120g) frozen peas
- 90 gram butter, melted
- 300 millilitre cream
- 100 gram thin slices prosciutto, cut into strips
- 1 cup (80g) grated parmesan, plus extra to serve (optional)
Method
Penne della nonna
-
1Cook penne in a large saucepan of boiling, salted water according to packet directions. Drain and return to pan.
-
2Add peas and butter to penne. Cook on medium heat for 3 minutes, tossing, until peas thaw. Stir in cream and prosciutto and cook for another 3 minutes, until penne is well coated and cream thickens slightly.
-
3Stir through parmesan and season to taste. Serve scattered with extra parmesan.
Notes
This comforting, creamy dish uses simple, ready-to-hand ingredients just the way Italian grandmothers, or nonnas, like to do when they want to spoil loved ones.
